A Moral Dilemma

Is Going Green a Choice Between Right and Wrong?

"We have inherited a large house, a great 'World House' in which we have to live together- Black and White, Easterner and Westerner, Gentile and Jew, Catholic and Protestant, Moslem and Hindu- a family unduly separated in ideas, culture, and interest, who, because we can never again live apart, must learn somehow to live with each other in peace."

- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - The World House

Do we have a moral and ethical responsibility to future generations? Are we responsible for the most vulnerable populations since a disproportionate climate change burden will impact the economies and food supply of poorer countries? Many members of the faith community have expressed profound concern about climate change on the basis of their beliefs. Enjoy a panel discussion and reception.

Arrive via Metro: Southern Avenue Station

Reid Detchon is currently the Vice President for Energy and Climate at the United Nations Foundation. He seeks to bring about change in U.S. energy policy to address critical challenges related to the production and use of energy such as the political and economic security threats posed by the world’s dependence on oil. Detchon is also the Former Chair of the Environment Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and states that “Global warming poses a profound moral challenge to which we must respond.”
